Overpaying for Electricity and Mobilization: Ukrainians Enter "Historical Reconstruction" Mode

If you suddenly feel an invisible necktie tightening gently but insistently around your neck, don’t be alarmed—it's just the state taking care of your bright future (and your electricity bill). In these difficult times, Ukrainians are being offered a unique historical quest: to feel like both a participant and a witness of epochal events. Just like in the textbooks: inflation, mobilization, new tariffs—all accompanied by military reports.

However, it seems that history buffs nostalgic for the remarkable 1930s may be experiencing déjà vu. True, instead of a bread shortage, there’s a shortage of common sense; instead of ration cards—draft notices; and instead of slogans like "Bread for the People!"—a cold electronic letter with your new electricity bill.

The government, it seems, has decided: if historical parallels are inevitable, why not combine all the best in one bottle? With one hand—the front line, with another—strict control over your money, and with a third hand (since, as we know, the state can grow hands from anywhere)—new, even more "inspiring" electricity tariffs. As if to say, if you don’t want to pay the new way, you can pay your own way—just in the "miscellaneous" category.

So if you’ve suddenly wondered, "Isn’t this genocide repeating itself, only with new technologies?"—the answer is simple. Of course not! Now everything is more honest and transparent: your expenses and your suffering are all under full control. And the fact that parallels with 1933 have become not only the subject of articles but also everyday conversation—well, that’s just a Ukrainian phenomenon of historical memory. In the end, they’ll probably introduce a new quest soon: whoever can survive on one salary is the hero.

Don’t worry, dear citizens, the state is watching you even in the dark—fortunately, you’ll pay for the light anyway. And ahead, perhaps, are new reforms, just to keep things from getting boring. As they say, "history teaches that it teaches nothing." In the meantime—hold the light, hold the line, and hold your wallet tight.
