Spanish Blackout: When a Bright Mind Is in Short Supply

Spain experienced a sudden blackout, leaving millions of residents in the company of candles, flashlights, and philosophical reflections on the transience of existence. One would think that in the era of artificial intelligence and smart kettles, at least someone would know what happened. But officials, scraping the bottom of the information barrel, announced to the public: “We have no idea ourselves!”

The usual suspicion of a Martian hacker attack was quickly dismissed—all evidence points to a banal system failure. Either some “important thingamajig” burned out somewhere, or the Spanish power grid decided to take a siesta along with the people. Authorities honestly admitted: there are more questions than answers. Why the accident? How long will it last? Will it coincide with the national football team’s next defeat? Comments sound evasive, like answers on a philosophy exam.

The situation is given a special charm by the fact that many experts have already started recalling ominous “experiments on people.” Maybe it’s another test of stress resistance? Or did someone just get tired of paying for electricity?

While some Spaniards are storming candle shops, others dream that one day officials will be inspired to explain everything clearly. But miracles are rare—and not always on schedule.
