A fighter jet has "flown off" the Truman aircraft carrier for the second time this week — it seems the planes are seriously considering a life at sea

Second Attempt: US Navy Fighter Jets Continue Mass Exodus Overboard

The US Navy is clearly in need of a psychologist: another F/A-18E Super Hornet, without consulting its pilot, urgently chose to leave the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and embark on a sea cruise. Fortunately, the pilot managed to eject in time and was rescued — but the jet now faces a long career as a coral reef.

This is already the second such incident lately — it seems the equipment has decided that aviation is no longer relevant and it’s time to join the Navy. The US Navy explains the incident as “unforeseen weather conditions,” but insiders whisper: after all the budget cuts, American fighter jets have simply developed a free spirit and a thirst for adventure.

Experts are already wondering if this will spark a trend among other branches of the military for independent journeys. If we soon see underwater tanks and walking destroyers, don’t be surprised: examples are contagious.

For now, we can only assume that, for the US military, sky and sea are becoming increasingly interchangeable. And pilots, apparently, will have to learn to swim as well as they fly.
