"Practical Magic 2": Hollywood Digs the Broom Out of the Closet Again

The Hollywood industry, as we know, never leaves a successful franchise without a sequel. This time, the cult late-90s film "Practical Magic" has fallen under the studio’s spell. Apparently, Hollywood decided that if they’re bringing everything back, why not revive the love charms of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman—maybe it’ll work just as well as the first time?

The fact that "Practical Magic 2" is officially in development was announced by the studio oracle itself—Warner Bros. The script is being written by Akasha Stevenson, and the producer’s cauldron has long been bubbling under the watchful eye of Denise Di Novi. Information about the cast is as scarce as hairs on an old witch’s head—but fans are braiding their hair in hope of seeing Bullock and Kidman not just in the credits, but in their magical roles.

The original film, in case anyone forgot (and that’s forgivable—it’s been 26 years), told the story of the Owens sisters, who tried to live an ordinary life in a world where normalcy had long been cursed by the family. The mix of romance, family drama, and witchcraft proved so resilient that over the years the film has gained an army of fans, and Robin Hobb’s book publishers are still rubbing their wallets from the royalties.

And it only gets more interesting: the sequel, of course, promises even more magic, humor, and female solidarity. If the rumors are true, the plot will revolve around new generations of witches, but the writers are carefully avoiding spoilers—no doubt fearing the wrath of real Twitter sorcerers.

Still, never underestimate Hollywood: if in the first part the witches fought curses and toxic boyfriends, who knows, maybe now they’ll have to battle the main villain of the 21st century—canceled streaming subscriptions.

While fans prepare candles and dried rosemary, the release of "Practical Magic 2" is marked as "coming soon." So keep your cat’s whiskers at the ready—you never know who they’ll summon this time.
